Master Chao
Biography
Master Chao, male of Han ethnicity, born in November 1962 in Emeishan City, Sichuan Province. He holds a 6th-dan rank in Chinese martial arts and is a representative inheritor of Emei Wushu, a national intangible cultural heritage item listed in the 5th batch. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Emeishan Wushu Association, Vice President and Chief Coach of the Emei Wushu Federation.
Starting martial arts training at an early age, he learned from inheritors of Emei Wushu such as Wang Shutian and Zou Defa, as well as martial artist Xia Bohua. He has practiced various styles including Emei Boxing, Emei Tiger-Subduing Boxing, Emei Tongbi Boxing, and Emei Swordsmanship.
Representing the Gansu Provincial Team, he won the gold medal in the Wushu Three-Person sparring Competition at the 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities in 2019. Throughout his martial arts career, he has claimed over 50 gold medals in domestic and international competitions. He also served twice as the captain of the Chinese team at the World Traditional Wushu Championships, winning four gold medals in total.
