Kungfu Performance
The Emei School Female Kung Fu Troupe is China's first female troupe dedicated to intangible cultural heritage (ICH) martial arts.
Background
On February 12, 2024, Sanrenxing Film & Television, jointly with Guangdong Satellite TV, Yitong Production, and Sichuan Martial Arts Association, released a national recruitment notice. The initiative aimed to seek female disciples who are passionate about martial arts, committed to promoting ICH, and dedicated to inheriting the martial arts spirit. Together with Ling Yun, the inheritor of Emei Martial Arts (a national ICH item), they set out to establish China's first Emei ICH Martial Arts Female Kung Fu Troupe.
Establish Date
On April 29, 2024, the Emei School Female Kung Fu Troupe was officially unveiled and established at the 4th Emei Martial Arts Inheritance Conference.
Team Members
- Initiator and Chief Consultant of the Troupe: Ren Gang. He is the representative inheritor of Emei Martial Arts (a national ICH project), Chairman of the Sichuan Martial Arts Association, and an 8th-Dan Chinese martial artist.
- Senior Sister of the Troupe: Ling Yun. She is the representative inheritor of Emei Martial Arts (a national ICH project) and the Sichuan ICH Promotion Ambassador.
- Star Martial Arts Coaches:
- Zhao Shi, a world martial arts champion and former member of the Chinese National Martial Arts Team;
- Zhou Lin, a world martial arts champion and head coach of the youth Female team of the Sichuan Martial Arts Team.
- Film/TV Action Director: Liu Zhaoming, a young film and television action director who has served as the action director for many well-known film and television works such as Nice View.
Significance of Establishment
The establishment of the Emei School Female Kung Fu Troupe aims to enhance the cultural and tourism image of Emeishan City and promote China's excellent traditional culture. The troupe combines traditional martial arts with modern elements, and through various forms such as short videos and performances, it helps more people understand Emei Martial Arts. It has realized the "going global" of martial arts culture and opened up new ideas for inheriting China's excellent traditional culture.- Senior Sister of the Troupe: Ling Yun.
